Ceremony of Diplomas Presentation to the Graduates of the Parliamentary Training Program 2008-2009 was held at The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine
On Wednesday, Valentyn Zaichuk, Secretary General of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariate, presented the graduates of the parliamentary training program 2008-2009 with the diplomas.
Greeting the participants of the ceremony, Valentyn Zaichuk reminded of the fact that it was already the 12th graduation of the Ukrainian Parliament Support Program implemented with the assistance of Ohio University and the US Agency for International Development.
"The trainees had the opportunity to get acquainted with the politics, take part in the legislative process and obtain experience working in the legislative and executive bodies, thus creating prerequisites for their personal professional development and successful social-political activity", - stated V.Zaichuk. He believes that parliamentary training of young experts helps the graduates of the Program to continue their professional career or scientific activity successfully.
846 persons have taken part in the training program since it was launched. James Petit, Deputy Chief of Mission U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, stated that similar training programs existed in many democratic states and their efficiency and positive influence on the formation of political elite was irrefutable. Ukrainian experience of the Parliamentary Training Program confirms this statement.
